Each summer, almost every day, my phone fills up with a virtual wave of requests for recommendations of where to go, eat, or stay in Ibiza. A friend of the cousin of a girlfriend of a guy I may have met eight years ago somehow gets hold of my number and I wake up to a request to plan a stranger’s holiday. While this is all rather flattering and plucks my empathic urge to guide people towards the island’s more authentic side, I’ve recently become more boundaried with my travel tips. Mornings are for meditation, after all.
Admittedly, it’s taken me far too long to put a proper Ibiza guide together. Plans have been in the works for years. I’ve compiled lists, toyed with concepts, even commissioned photography, but the content never seems to be ready in time for the start of the season. Then, before I know it, another year flies by, the cycle repeats, and five years later, here we are.
There has been no shortage of editorial experiments, though. The mini ‘Day Trip’ guides I made for guests staying at ColourFeel’s secret pop-up hotel projects ‘El Palacete’, ‘La Casita’, and ‘La Medina’, were designed to pre-empt all the infinite, identical questions and help people feel comfortable and in-the-know. I’ve written for magazines and newspapers about ‘Ibiza’s evolving essence’, and since 2017, penned three very different books that delve into the island’s more creative, spiritual side.
This new ‘Ibiza Summer Guide’ is a more direct way to share my “island-insider info” with The ColourFeel Dispatch’s growing community of paid subscribers (thank you; I truly appreciate the support). In the near future, this series will cover other storied locations around the world, too.
Rather than provide a dense or definitive resource, I have settled on a condensed curation acrosss three main categories.
– Food Stories: eateries with a tale to tell, often voiced by proprietors who are the main characters of future Ibiza legends.
– Creative Time: galleries, foundations, art spaces, and inspiring retail to animate the imagination and connect with free-thinkers.
– Sacred Sites: wonders of nature, much-mythologised energy points, and places to find some peace and reflection.
Additionally, I’m adding several key recommendations on where to STAY, find a GOOD COFFEE, some WORTHWHILE PARTIES, and the best sandy or rocky spots BY THE SEA.
As mentioned, this guide is only available for PAID SUBSCRIBERS, but I’m most excited about finally being able to respond to all the requests coming via my unofficial Ibiza Tourism hotline with a quick, convenient, copy-n’-pasted link.
I also genuinely hope you get to experience the Ibiza I know and love and encounter plenty of inspiring characters along the way.
Have a beautiful summer everyone!
