World War Three
Part II takes a winding look at the web of war-plans, wish-casters, and wider narratives in play; all angling for the ultimate 'W'.
This war is not about ridding the world of something.
It’s more about forging something new.
As their campaign of carnage climbs up the escalation ladder under the looming threat of a nuclear fire cloud, you are kindly expected to carry on, swipe your screen, and keep shopping.
To understand this war of choice, it helps to view history as a constant transition from one system to another.
Right now, we’re in one of the messy in-between periods.
We know the old systems, structures, and sycophants are buckling under the weight of their own incompetence, just as garrulous, gung-ho opportunists rush to fill the void.
Perhaps the scariest part is realising that all this heinous violence, wanton destruction, and imminent financial shock is baked into their plans. From the Zionists that encompass the Tel Aviv-D.C. axis, to Tehran’s embattled Revolutionary Guard, and Silicon Valley’s accelerationist hold over the White House, the rest of us are forced into the slipstream of their thrust towards a future thirsting for a reboot of the power balance.
Some are calling this violent stage of the grander plan a controlled demolition. Their deliberate ploy to dismantle, denigrate and destroy. As always, plans within plans see multiple storylines overlap and relentless ambitions collide.
Already underway, many of these motions will soon be impossible to ignore or avoid.
I know we’ve been buffeted by waves of ‘New World Order’ bullshit for a while now. An entire attention economy is powered by the hot-takes of a conspiracy-rich commentariat blasting about brewing dystopias. But I need you to understand why this war is different.
It’s the big one. The World War we’ve always dreaded. The fire horse has run out of the barn, because the barn is on fire, and we all need to start disaster-proofing the rest of the farm.
Remember, war isn’t a game, set, or match. It’s a tournament within an even wider, unrelenting tour calendar. War often stretches across decades, revealing patterns of intent even as victory remains elusive and unclear.
As I write this, the world is less than three weeks away from an industry-razing energy crisis that will bring panic to stock and supermarkets alike. This will be a seismic shock to everything you take for granted. Dealing with all the disruption will cloud your ability to think and act clearly; to see the forest from the trees.
The information below is therefore an opportunity to cut through the shortsighted spectacle from the captured corporate media and adjacent slopaganda machine and dive into some of the grander narratives or “endgame” visions in play.
I will write in the simplest, sincerest, most straightforward terms possible, outlining eleven of the bigger-picture plot-lines fuelling the spot fires about to surge into frontal view.
Read this entry periodically or refer back to it as a reference.
Just know that all information below is key to untangling our present predicament.
1. CHRONIC CONFUSION IS THE POINT
In the sphere of info-tainment, the air is thick with bullshit.
There are things we see but don’t believe.
Reports we hear but don’t see.
We’re all clutching in the pixelated darkness, trying to make sense from the ambient nebula.
In recent days, Netanyahu splashed across a series of performative proof-of-life videos, all promptly dissected, dismantled, then endlessly discussed and discredited by a worldwide web of wish-casters.
International broadcasters stationed in Tel Aviv openly told us how the Israeli military censors their footage, reminding us why we should switch off their impotent info-streams altogether. We know that Israel is getting pummelled by missiles, yet only hear about reports of falling shrapnel randomly razing strategic targets.
Over in the UAE, 100 people have been arrested for cybercrimes; simply for sharing any videos of missiles that are shattering the gulf’s mirage of a safe, stable, moneyed metropolis. In Qatar, similar arrests have jailed more than 300.
The D.C. rumour mill churns and chuckles about the new Ayatollah being gay; another tawdry psy-op with echoes of the “Putin is dying of cancer” disinformation campaign.
Meanwhile, Trump tells us the war has been won at least four times a day, even as the Pentagon ships out ground troops amidst a backdrop of insider trades on the Oil Futures market making certain people close to the casino floor over 800 million dollars richer in a day.
In a recently leaked diplomatic cable the US instructed its embassies to coordinate with The Department of War’s Psychological Operations unit - formerly known as Psyop - to enlist more vocal champions for US interests. It’s giving Hasbara but built bigger, bolder, better.
Mutual barbs to “obliterate” power grids and desalination plants keep the entire region teetering on the brink of an unmitigated catastrophe that ticks closer each day.
Those fortunate enough to be far from the hot-zone simply observe. Passive consumption of an unbelievable war - both real and unreal - where words and images, stats and strategies are probably lies, potentially AI, all to feed bigger myths of projection, which could disintegrate at any minute.
World War Three is confusing, cringe, capitalistic, and controlled by operatic levels of stage-managed information flows. On the battlefront of narrative control nothing makes much sense because everything is spin, slopaganda, or a bait-and-switch for collective attention spans.
When accurate snippets of this lethal spectacle do seep out, we still question our own eyes.
Welcome to the twilight zone of truth.
When nothing is true, everything can also be true; unmooring reality into a choppy sea of spurious simulation.
Getting caught up in the news cycle’s semantic dish-of-the-day or cybernetic nebula such as Netanyahu’s AI-generated ghost are all designed to herd attention away from the bigger picture. Because clouding our consciousness and seeding doubt is entirely the point. To keep you guessing. To keep you reacting. To keep you shopping. Anything but see this war for what is is: a controlled demolition to decimate and re-design the obsolete world order.
2. WAR OBJECTIVES x 3
What the fuck are these guys doing?
What’s driving the fight?
What would success look like?
For Israel: This is the much-anticipated showdown with its arch-nemesis Iran. The main goal is to vanquish any threat to its expansionist agenda, otherwise known as Greater Israel (more on this below). Apart from realising a vision from the Book of Joshua, a Zionist expansion would bring favourable pipelines and control over key shipping routes. Recent polling reveals over 90% of Jewish-Israelis support this latest war of aggression in Iran, but no-one, not even the paid-for-comment influencers astro-turfed across our newsfeeds, believe Israel is doing any of this bombing to liberate Iranians from tyranny. The opposite is true. Israel wants to sow chaos and seed civil war, so Iran, the 17th largest country in the world, balkanises into a morass of domineerable, basket-case, pseudo-states. If we’re to take Israeli rhetoric at face value, oft-cited prophecies from the Tora point to a divine plan to dominate the entire region from the Nile to the Euphrates - but at everyone else’s expense. If you were still unclear about a clear definition of Zionism, then this is basically it. Selfish, savage conquest for a select few.
For the United States: Much has been made about Trump being unwittingly dragged into this war by his immediate circle of malicious warmongers, of which Netanyahu has pride of place. But don’t get it twisted: this is an Amerikkkan war. Israel is no lone ranger, rather an integral feature of the imperial machine that sustains The United Missiles of America. As a vassal state of the Empire, it operates like a local subsidiary; equal parts attack dog, chaos agent, and convenient scapegoat. In short, Israel helps deflect any direct responsibility from the dirty work of US statecraft in the region. The primary US objective is to prevent Iran from obtaining ‘the bomb’; an eventuality that would effectively freeze further efforts to topple a longstanding outlier. This is, after all, the conventional defensive essence of atomic weapons; protecting possessor states from outside attack (see: North Korea). In the twenty-five years since September 11, the US has sought to topple any country unwilling to “bend the knee”: Iraq, Libya, Syria, and most recently Venezuela have all learnt this with varying quantities of spilt blood and sustained chaos. But don’t believe anyone claiming Trump, the self-denominated Peace President, was unwittingly dragged into this conflict by a duplicitous Israel. USrael are one and the same; both sides of this cunning coin know exactly what they’re doing. They may sound clumsy during their mass demonstration of strength projection but they stumble with purpose.
For Iran: If there’s one thing uniting the decentralised mosaic leadership of the Iranian resistance it’s the realisation that USrael cannot be trusted. They have been bombed twice during diplomatic negotiations, even as both occasions were on the verge of inking a diplomatic resolution. This wider war now proves the plan was always to destroy them. For Iran, this is an existential war, meaning they will fight to the last death, because all avenues towards armistice have been made null and void. The Iranians are also locked into avenging the assassination of their supreme leader and defending their besieged homeland. As a mainly Shia muslim state, the ignition of religious flames should not be discounted either. Shia muslims see suffering as a purposeful test and a pathway toward spiritual purification. Such tests are a means to cultivate sabr or patience and may provide philosophical fuel to sustain a war of attrition. 95% of Iranians are Shia. From the outset, Iran’s strategy has been to regionalise the war, target US interests, equipment, and CIA presence from Bahrain to Abu Dhabi. This has already had knock-on effects, not least of which the elimination of advanced radar systems in the region and NATO’s full withdrawal of troops from Iraq. Tit-for-tat missile attacks have also made USrael think twice before carpet bombing entire cities - but only slightly. Israel’s bombing of Iranian gas fields was answered by a strike on Qatar’s major gas facilities, causing a reported 20 billion dollars worth of damage that may dent global supply for years to come. Even if Trump goes full TACO (“Trump always chickens out”) and prematurely declares the US job done, this doesn’t mean Iran has to stop defending itself. For Iran, there’s no going back to the way things were: negotiations can’t be trusted, Israel is off the chain, and Iran’s entire government is on an assassination list. Backed into a corner, there’s no way out except to fight to the end.
3. MOWING THE LAWN
Just days ago, Israel’s cartoonishly villainesque ambassador to the UN deadpanned a claim to camera that Israel was “a stabilising force in the region” and “wants peace”. Facts, actions, and stated policies beg to differ.
“Mowing the Lawn” is an Israeli strategy of conducting periodic, short-term military operations to degrade the capabilities of non-state actors like Hamas or Hezbollah in lieu of waging all-out war, or heaven forbid, directing efforts towards a long-term diplomatic solution.
For decades, this has been a way to keep both Gaza and the West Bank scattered and subjugated. There has also been quieter and more consistent efforts to divide and discredit the Palestinian Authority, impeding any semblance of unity to stem the tide of prospective statehood.
On October 7, this strategy combined with the pressure cooker of occupation, burst open, goading Israel to wage an all-out war across the entire region. The wider strategy was to weaken, then isolate, and eventually decimate arch nemesis Iran.
For the past three years we’ve seen a calculated campaign to vanquish all of Iran’s “proxies” - Hezbollah in Lebanon, Assad in Syria, the Houthis in Yemen – to then be able to take on the Ayatollah in Iran. Each one of these places has seen their leader assassinated, or in Syria’s case removed then replaced by a former Al Qaeda foot solider. There has been no effort to cultivate peace or stability in their place, though. That’s because USrael’s strategy of mowing the lawn is now writ large and regional. Imbued with the exceptionalist belief that weakening everyone else only makes you stronger, the goal is to perpetuate chaos in the power vacuum, raining occasional missile strikes from above for added anarchic effect, as they continue to rob the resource vault.
4. THE ABRAHAM ACCORDS
Back during Trump Term 1, Teflon Don’s son-in-law and nepo-baby-in-chief Jared Kushner, burnt much boot leather to secure signatures for the Abraham Accords. It’s important to point out that Kushner is not a neutral negotiator. For decades, during his visits to New York, Netanyahu would sleep at the Kushner family residence, reportedly in Jared’s childhood bedroom. It’s no coincidence that Jared has been such a propulsive force behind the ‘New Gaza’ real estate plan to turn the wasted strip into a crypto-casino, capital-washing Disneyland.
But back to the Accords…
Signed in 2020, the series of joint agreements aimed to normalise diplomatic, economic, and security relations between Israel and the rest of the neighbourhood, which has never formally recognised it as a state. Widely seen as a strategy to further isolate, out-flank, and stand against Iran’s regional influence. The UAE, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco signed on first, but there were some notable holdouts, not least of which Saudi Arabia, despite the fact that it was already fighting a proxy war with Iran in Yemen.
But just as rumours started swirling that Saudi Arabia may be considering a new era of relations with Israel, Hamas launched para-gliders over Gaza’s razor wire and the American-led Abraham Accords plan for region was set into a tailspin. Beyond the cause and effect explanation of oppressed people fighting back to break out, the October 7 attack can be seen as an attempt to incinerate growing momentum towards the Abraham accords.
USrael’s response has been a sustained scorched-earth campaign to eliminate all of Iran’s allies and proxy forces. They’ve had various degrees of success along the way, most notably declaring victory against Hezbollah only to find them formidably resurgent in 2026. But now they’re confronting Iran head on in a do-or-die endgame scenario.
5. THE SHADOW WAR
Before hostilities outright exploded, Israel and Iran had been waging a not-so-secret tit-for-tat game of assassination, covert action, and industrial sabotage that even included a malicious computer worm called STUXNET. It began in the 1980s when Israel established its so-called ‘Begin Doctrine’ to retain its position as the region’s sole nuclear power. Israel does not want a world where Iran has a nuclear weapon. But Iran wants a nuclear weapon to continue to exist without the threat of annihilation. The space in between these two diametrically opposed objectives is packed with targeted killings of Iranian nuclear scientists and generals, sporadic missile strikes on shadowy groups, and a war of words that would put the boy who cried wolf to shame.
Israeli hysterics often default to the infamous phrase by former Iranian hardline President Mahmoud Ahmandinejad who, speaking at the ‘World Without Zionism’ conference in 2005, echoed the words of the Supreme leader, who purportedly said Israel needed to be “wiped off the map.” With so much paraphrasing, it’s no wonder this widely quoted hyperbolic soundbite was later debunked as a misinterpretation. In Farsi, Khomeini actually said: “this regime that is occupying Qods [Jerusalem] must be eliminated from the pages of history,” which is more of a call for political change than annihilative military action. Nonetheless, this third-hand quote remains a consistently wielded tool in any argument angling for Iranian regime change.
The most recent chapter of this shadow war was the largely made-for-media manufacture of an Iranian uprising earlier this year. It started with US treasury secretary Scott Bessent’s boastful claim to have deliberately tanked the Iranian economy, then morphed into a turbo-charged propaganda campaign that, at one point, claimed more than 50,000 innocent protestors had been massacred in only two days (for comparison, we are meant to believe that only 60,000 have died in Gaza in 2.5 years of genocidal carpet bombing). But despite a glaring absence of video evidence, The Guardian’s former fashion and lifestyle writer turned Paris-based Iran expert churned out unceasing and unverified insider accounts of mass death. AI generated imagery of protests filled the void of an Internet blackout. Then an astro-turfed campaign of Hasbara newsfluencers parroted identical script to the beat of war drums trying to justify the liberation of Iran. In PR terms, this was a “weapons of mass destruction in Iraq” equivalent; preparing the public mind through weapons of mass distraction, instead.
We now know that during preparations to assassinate Khomeini, Israel hacked and tracked government officials through Iran’s network of traffic cameras. Yet miraculously, they were never able to find or leak any videos of the unseen massacres. Representatives from Mossad have since claimed they will repeat their infiltration-uprising operation in about a year.
For its part, Iran has long threatened to activate sleeper cells around the world, their hidden, last-resort boobytrap to unleash mayhem as defensive revenge. This also includes the cyber domain. Just last week, FBI director Kash Patel’s google account was hacked and compromising photos, videos, and emails were splashed across the Internet. Expect more from this space.
Even now, as hostilities are being fought open and outright under the blaring sun, we must still remember that most contemporary warfare is conducted in the realm of shadows. Forever wars are shadow wars by nature.
6. ARMAGEDDON-MAXXING
The idea that those steering our collective ship are willingly swerving us all towards an iceberg made of fire and brimstone is simply too scary and psychotic to believe. But these goons keep saying the quiet part out loud. On the first day of all-out war when the USrael bombed a primary school, Israel’s commentariat started crowing about the a 2500 year old story of saving the Jews of Persia, commemorated each year as the holiday of Purim. As they celebrated the timing of the attack, critics well-versed in the barbarism of the Old Testament claimed the massacre may have been a bloody statement and ritual sacrifice against ‘Amalek’, Israel’s biblical enemy, invoked by Netanyahu any time anyone has the audacity to question his endless war.
Over in the United States, a military watchdog received hundreds of complaints about a memo sent to commanders explaining that this new war was “all part of God’s divine plan”, including references from the Book of Revelation about Armageddon and the second coming of Christ. Newly named Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has been pushing more evangelical prayers services all the way from the Oval Office to the lower echelons of the war machine. Within this narrative Trump is pitted as a messianic figure that will deliver the world from all evil - but not before some sort of revamped rapture. Such zealotry was also popular during the Bush Jr. administration, which at the time, was mainly viewed as a cynical ploy to secure the evangelical Christian vote, or quite possibly, atone for their sins in real time.
One diehard devotee to all this Armageddon-maxxing is US ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, who apart from claiming an insult to Israel was akin to slander against his wife, recently raised regional eyebrows by suggesting Israel has a biblical right to large portions of the Middle East. He also gushed about the prospect of experiencing Armageddon within his lifetime. He is 70 years old.
If you’re new to all of this salivation around self-destruction, I recommend googling the ‘red heifer prophecy’ or getting up to date on ‘accelerationism’, the creed of the Silicon Valley’s computer-brain clique that argues we need to accelerate the collapse of the current world in order to re-tweak something ultra-new and technocratic from the ashes.
Make of this what you will but all these narcotically driven narcissists are either fuelling fanatical visions of the apocalypse to rally the impressionable masses (namely to secure support for unpopular wars by couching them in blockbuster stories)… or, that they actually believe this bullshit.
Both are bad.
7. ESCALATION DOMINANCE
For the past year, we’ve been subjected to a barrage of chest-beating from American eagle-emblazoned podiums re-reminding the world that it’s America First.
The new National Defense Strategy (NDS) reads suspiciously like it was written by Grok - meaning it most probably was. In the spirit of “escalation dominance”, I’m going to break ColourFeel’s house rules and copy and paste a pithy AI summary of the document here:
The 2026 National Defense Strategy (NDS) pivots toward a “Fortress America” approach,
prioritizing homeland defense, the Western Hemisphere, and deterring China over global
interventions. The strategy emphasizes hard sovereignty, rapid military modernization,
and a “Golden Dome” missile defense, demanding allies take greater responsibility for
their own regional security. All tough talk about “Escalation Dominance”, decapitation strikes, and the revisionist strategy to “escalate to de-escalate” is part of a juiced-up vision of “hard sovereignty” that aims to wind down costly overseas operations and concentrate power and presence in the sphere of “Greater Northern America”. Trump’s ‘Golden Dome’ project, a homeland expansion of Israel’s leaky ‘Iron Dome’ missile shield, is a symbol of this military-industrial-isolationist sentiment streaming through the veins of the current American establishment.
A litany of longer-term assessments have argued the United States needs to maximise its status as unchallenged superpower before it’s too late to bend the world to its whims. China continues to rise. Russia recalibrates. Other resource-rich countries have banded together as BRICS. The proxy war in Ukraine, President kidnapping operation in Venezuela, and imminent quagmire in Iran are dual strategies to grab global resources and bleed bigger competitors.
The future of Ukraine is secondary to the ability to wound Russia. The operations in Venezuela and Iran are about interrupting oil flows to China. More pressingly, Trump’s regime of America-Firsters actually want to reduce overreach in West Asia, but this will only be possible by deputising an emboldened Israel to rule the roost in its place.
Of course, this whole vision is coded with Naïveté Americana and will manifest in much messier eventualities than the desired outcomes mooted in Trump’s AI-slop-written National Security document.
Nonetheless, they will continue to force this vision down the world’s throat, even as their chokehold tightens around all of our necks.
8. A NEW AMERICAN SUPERSTATE
Ever heard about the Technate?
Back in the 1930s, a group calling themselves ‘The Technocrats’ proposed merging the United States with Canada, Greenland, Mexico, and parts of Central and South America into one self-sufficient, non-political, but clearly continental unit. It was to be governed by so-called “technocratic principles”, doing away with archaic ideas of national borders and party divisions to usher in a new idea of society run by engineers, scientists and technicians. Championed by Technocracy, Inc., (of which Elon Musk’s grandfather spearheaded the Canadian division until he was arrested in 1940 for being avidly pro-Hitler), this technocratic vision of boosting science and maths while gutting the humanities (and society’s Renaissance soul along with it), gained particular traction in the nihilist wasteland of the depression era. Fast forward a century and such soulless visions of the future are back on the menu boys!
Trump’s intermittent murmurings about buying Greenland, vanquishing Venezuela, taking control of the Panama Canal, or making Canada the 51st State, all while deliberately starving Cuba, should not be taken as words of whimsy. The Fascist-era idea to re-forge a resource rich security bloc under the direct dominion of D.C. is circling back, finding favour in a world gripped by insecurity and fears of scarcity. For a Trump Admin so demonstrably intent on dismantling security arrangements and UN obligations (witness the bombing of UNWRA offices in Gaza, Trump’s withdrawal from 31 UN agencies in January, and a push to sideline and supplant the Security Council with a new billion-dollar-club dubbed The Board of Peace) while airing constant frustrations about NATO (whose lack of outright support for the war with Iran may provide a convenient excuse for an American exit), a controlled recalibration of Empire is an opportunity to reduce the risks of over-extension and over-exposure in far-away lands.
Some commentators see Trump’s campaign promise of a new era of American isolationism being undone by persistent claims on Greenland and the Caribbean. They may be missing the point. Isolation also means concentration and there’s still plenty of frontier back home for them to continue their FAFO (fuck around and find out) approach to military adventurism.
Currently, ‘Greater Northern America’ is only being willed into existence through words. But as the woefully named ‘Operation Total Extermination’ expands military strikes on drug cartels and smugglers in Central America, the US is definitely turning the Imperium’s violence inward. What they are prepared to do - or take - in Cuba or Greenland, will soon reveal their seriousness about forging a new supersized American neighbourhood.
9. GREATER ISRAEL
A fantasy that once lingered on the fringe of Israel’s far right has been edging closer to reality, especially since “Big Yahu” formed a fully fascist coalition government.
Ever since launching his full-blown murder spree, Netanyahu has claimed he’s on a historic and spiritual mission and feels a connection to the Greater Israel project. His psychotic coalition partner Ben Gvir, most recently seen trying to pop champagne celebrating “the inversion of Jewish ethics” on the floor of the Knesset after an apartheid death penalty bill to execute Palestinians passed into law, has been less aloof. Gvir has long, proclaimed Zionist expansion in every direction - into the Sinai, across Syria, and even parts of Saudi - as Israel’s manifest destiny.
Traced all the way back to Genesis 15:18 where God made a covenant with Abraham to promise his descendants a return to the sacred land, the idea for a giant Israel was favoured by the founder of modern Zionism Theodore Herzl, who back in 1898, referenced it as the borders of a future Jewish State. In the 80s, then the 90s, the idea gained traction in policy papers arguing for the fragmentation of surrounding Arab States to weaken and claim land.
Currently, the internationally recognised sovereign territory of Israel is around 20,770 sq km. Israel occupies nearly 6000 sq km more. The Greater Israel project hopes to expand the sovereign status quo 25 times to around 500,000 sq km; a Jewish superstate that would stretch all the way from the Nile to the Euphrates. Not much is said about the 120 million people already living on this landmass. Although, we are all familiar with their standard operating procedures in Gaza.
The Israeli playbook is pretty familiar by now. Starting with a military operation that turns into a buffer zone, followed by full-blown occupation, settlements, and annexation. The first step towards Greater Israel will be the full subsumption of both Gaza and the West Bank. Since the latter was occupied in 1967, Israel has reverted back to a biblical-era rebrand, calling it Judea and Samaria and seeding illegal settlements whose residents have been known to burn olive groves, fill water wells with cement, and murder with impunity.
The main obstacle to this fascist delusion has always been Iran. For Zionists, Iran’s long-term decimation is not an unfortunate fallout, but a desirable outcome.
As things get messier in the meantime another frontier-expansion fantasy from the past has resurfaced. In 2022, conservative politician Avri Steiner proposed purchasing several uninhabited Greek islands as an option to evacuate Israeli citizens during a war. More recently, there’s been chatter about Argentina providing the Jewish diaspora with a safe and resurgent Plan B if a catastrophe rendered the original promised land uninhabitable.
And here you were thinking Zionism’s appetite would be sated after noshing on its regional neighbours.
10. KILLER AI
Another battle has been playing out in recent weeks between machine-brained morons and those still brave enough to espouse even a modicum of an ethical backbone.
It started with a spat between AI titan Anthropic and the Pentagon, after the former refused the application of its A.I. model to domestic mass surveillance and fully autonomous lethal weapons. A 200 million dollar government contract was canceled, a lawsuit promptly filed, but not before man-without-a-soul a.k.a. Sam Altman from Open A.I. stepped in to fill the void and collect the spoils by signing onto Trump’s no-holds-barred, move-fast-and-break-everything vision for machine-powered belligerence.
ChatGPT is a war machine now.
At the heart of the admittedly threadbare ethical debate is the fatal, existential choice to give machines autonomous kill powers. The roll-out of Robocop, Terminator, or Bladerunner are suddenly less a question of if but how.
The military machine has been moving towards dehumanisation models for decades; removing the kill switch as far as possible from the realities of the battlefield. AI brings this dream of lethal efficiency one step closer by excising human decision-making entirely. In Gaza, tech-data giant Palantir helped calibrate AI-assisted kill lists via ‘Lavender’, a system devised using massive data sweeps that meant residents were targeted simply for appearing in another suspects contact list.
Gaza was just a testing ground though. When USrael kicked off its carpet bombing campaign in Iran with a double-tap strike on a primary school, experts suggested the massacre had the hallmarks of an AI-assisted strike that would have been easily thwarted by human oversight.
Nonetheless, this is a best case scenario for the military machine brain. A computer doesn’t dissent, nor can it be court-marshalled, making it the perfect vehicle to commit warcrimes.
Silicon Valley has always been the lovechild and laboratory for the military industrial surveillance state. The swift spiral into algorithmically calibrated massacres, murder-bots and drone swarms is shocking but not surprising. The writing was already on the wall back in 2018, when Google quietly removed its famous ‘Don’t be Evil’ motto, replacing it with less sexy, unspoken mantras to the likes of make money, more murder, march onwards to the infinite profit machine.
Adding to this impetous absurdity was a recent report from New Scientist revealing that AI models from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google had all opted to use nuclear weapons in simulated war games in 95% of cases.
With man-boys and models of avoidance like these, perhaps we’re all destined to die on the altar of lethal efficiency, which has become the resounding religion of the West, after all.
11. THE SAMSON OPTION
For the past few weeks, the United States and European nations have been quietly yet consistently evacuating their citizens from West Asia. Trump continues to demand Tehran’s total surrender. Then, days ago, a UN diplomat resigned after leaking that the international body was preparing for the possible deployment of nuclear weapons on the war plain. He rightly decried an imminent crime against humanity.
Despite blowing a lot of people and places up, things aren’t going that well for USrael. Iranian missiles and drones are still lobbied against Israeli and US targets right around the region. The Strait of Hormuz is still in a chokehold. This current stalemate actually increases the likelihood of an atomic bomb, precisely because it could be used to break the impasse. Terrestrially and psychologically annihilative, nuclear fire is a potentially decisive pathway to push the defiant Iranians to bow down to the two belligerent behemoths attacking them.
This isn’t so far-fetched. Israel’s outward-facing deterrence posture has long been articulated through ‘The Samson Option’, which threatens massive retaliation with nuclear weapons as a last resort against any country that invades or destroys much of their territory.
Long seen as defensive weapons to protect from outside attack, the first Trump administration moved to modernise the use of nuclear weapons with a new directive to consider dropping so-called “tactical nukes” on the battlefield. In February, the last nuclear non-proliferation treaty between the US and Russia expired, removing the last legally binding limits on the world’s two largest nuclear arsenals.
For decades the spectre of mutually assured destruction, or M.A.D. (one of the Cold War’s most apt acronyms) kept nightmare scenarios like nuclear apocalypse in check.
But what happens when decimation is deemed necessary to bring a new world into being? What happens when those in charge already have a proven disregard for humanitarian law, let alone humanity.
Cataclysm is closer than we think.
War is the plan.
Not because peace isn’t possible.
But because they choose war.
They want war, because they want it ALL.
